Case Between State Vs. Austin Olokor, Others Adjourn To 14th Feb. For Hearing

The Benin High Court Criminal Court 3 sitting in Benin City, Edo State preside over by His Lordship, Honourable Justice Ifijie has adjourned case of alleged brutal murder of Okhuoimose Omorodion and Genesis Orji who were killed in Ologbo Dukedom, in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State to 14th of February 2022 for continuous hearing.

The case which came up today in Benin Criminal Court, High Court 3, had the PW.2 Alero Omorodion, wife of the deceased, Okhuoimose Omorodion in the Witness box.

Testifying, PW.2, Alero Omorodion said she was with her husband around 9.00pm in front of their house, when the husband decided to go and take her bath. While in the bathroom which is in front of the house, the 2nd Accused Person, Oluwa Esimijie came and shot her husband on the head, few seconds later the 3rd Accused Person, Sunday Amamapoki, came with a long gun and shot her husband several times.

Pw 2 said, “I have to run to the next compound opposite our house for safety, as they purse me . So the following day I went to the Police station at Ologbo to report the incident.”

During the cross examination of PW2 by the 2nd and 3rd Defendants Counsel, O. T. Okeke, she told the court that she could not recognize the type of dresses that those who shot her husband was wearing on the day of the incident.

“I was not myself because of what I witnessed. It was like a war zone, which I have never experienced in my life before that day.

According to her, ” I recognized the 2nd and 3rd Accused Persons because I knew them in our community before the incident. My husband never told me that he has disagreement with anyone in the community.”

Meanwhile, the bail application for the 2nd and 3rd Accused Persons were granted, with each to present two sureties in the like sum of One Million Naira each.

The 3 Accused Persons, Austin Olokor, who is on bail, Oluwa Esimije and Sunday Amamapoki both in prison custody were all present in court.

The 3 Accused Persons were charged with 5 count charges of alleged Conspiracy, Kidnapping and Murder of Okuomose Omorodion and Genesis Orji in Ologbo Kukedom, Ikpoba Okha Local government Area of Edo state.

The Defendants’ offence contravened Sections 516, 327 and 316 (1) punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 and Section 2 (2) punishable under Section 3 of the Kidnapping Prohibition (Amendment) Law, 2013 of Edo State.
