As the Edo Central Senatorial District’s bye-election draws near, the political landscape is witnessing a seismic shift. Hon. John Yakubu, a veteran politician and former Esan North East LGA Executive Chairman, has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. His name is fast becoming a movement within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and it’s essential to understand the reasons behind this phenomenon.

When he was elected as an Esan North East Local Government Area some years ago, his performance led to his remarkable victory over Adams Oshiomole’s ACN candidate in the LGA in his second term bid, despite the former Governor’s imposition of another candidate, was a testament to his political prowess. Hon. John Yakubu’s political pedigree is said to be unmatched by his lovers. As the 2016 Edo PDP running mate, he demonstrated unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals. According to a source, “He was the reason the party candidate in that year got overwhelming support from the Senatorial District without being matched.”

In Edo Central Senatorial District’s PDP is Something Else…

Hon. John Yakubu’s leadership style is said to be characterized by empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of the people’s needs. According to a leader (Name withheld), “Yakubu knows everyone and has been on the ground since the beginning. He does not select the kind of people he relates with. He’s loved by the elderly, the women, and most importantly, the youth…” Another source said, “He has consistently demonstrated a willingness to listen and respond to the concerns of the people.” Yakubu has since started his door-to-door campaigns, town hall meetings, and community outreach programs, and the results have endeared him to the hearts of the people.

Hon. John Yakubu’s vision for the Edo Central Senatorial District is clear and compelling. Despite the understanding that the period of service after winning the election will be short, he has to have outlined a comprehensive agenda that addresses the pressing needs of the district, including: Amongst which are, improved infrastructure development, enhanced education and healthcare services, empowerment of women and youth, promotion of agriculture and entrepreneurship, and many others.

In our research to understand the take of the people of Edo Central Senatorial District, The emergence of Hon. John Yakubu as a movement in PDP is not just about party politics; it’s about the people’s desire for effective leadership. His message of hope, unity, and development has resonated across party lines, inspiring a new generation of leaders and citizens to join forces and demand a better future for the Edo Central Senatorial District.

We have also recognized or noticed that those carrying Hon. John Yakubu’s project in his Local Government Area, the Esan North East LGA, are the real party machinery. This has sent a message that others should be very smart enough to do the needful. Some party enthusiasts in the Senatorial District have vowed, “We will work against the party if the PDP considers someone different from John Yakubu.” This should be a serious concern to our party leaders.

As the bye-election approaches, the people of Edo Central Senatorial District have a unique opportunity to make a statement. They can choose to support a proven leader with a clear vision and a track record of success. They can choose to be part of a movement that transcends party lines and puts the people’s interest above all else.
