The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr AJV Obinna has Admonishes members of the Knights of St John International (KSJI) and the Ladies Auxiliary, to continue to live out their calling on Holiness and commitment.
His Grace Obinna made this call while delivering a homily during the Thanksgiving Mass for KSJI Supreme Subordinate Commandery and Ladies Auxiliary, Nigeria, at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, at the weekend.
The Thanksgiving Mass was attended by the leadership of Order in Nigeria, led by the Supreme Subordinate President, Major General (Prof.) Remy Uche, the Supreme Subordinate Auxiliary President, Noble Sister Chinwe Mgbajiaka, and the entire Joint Board of Trustees. This followed the successful election that brought them into office.
The Archbishop further urged parishioners to always see elective office as a duty and call to service and not for self aggrandisement.
According to him, “man will on the day of judgement account for his deeds on earth and no matter how big or small an office may be, it calls for accountability”.
Supreme Subordinate President, (SSP), Major General Prof. Remy Uche, at a well-attended Joint Board Meeting, expressed his appreciation to the newly constituted Board of the Order in Nigeria and called for all hands to be on deck, in order to effectively carryout the task of evangelization.
Sir Chris Umogbai, Director, Media and Publicity to the KSJI Supreme Subordinate Nigeria, in a press release noted that the SSP was excited at the outcome of the election and expressed willingness to irrevocably serve the Catholic Church with their Time, Talent and Treasure.
“We will take up the responsibility of catering to the needs of members of our Order who at different times are unable to fend for themselves; carry out health outreach; and continue to assist the Church in various ways”.
For a smooth and successful running of his administration, Professor Remy Uche inaugurated several Committees including an Advisory Board headed by Hon. Justice Paul Onumajulu (rtd) as Chairman, Chief John Nnia Nwodo and Senator Victor Umeh as members, respectfully.
The new leadership will run the affairs of KSJI in Nigeria for the next four years, according to the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of Nigeria edict.
