The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, successfully hosted the 13th Basic Stream Short Course on Strategic Leadership, Ethics, and Policy Making (SLEAMP).

The intensive training brought together professionals from various government agencies across Nigeria, equipping them with advanced leadership perspectives and ethical decision-making frameworks crucial for governance and policy implementation.

Edo State was well represented at the course, with top government officials in attendance, including Mrs. Bose Joy Igbinobaro, Permanent Secretary, Human Resources; Mrs. Ese Martina Omoruyi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Mining; Mr. Joseph Nyamdi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Water Resources; Mrs. Irenonsen Joy Ihensekhien, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development; and Chief Marie Bisi Idaomi, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.

Also present was Dr. Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, and Security and Defence Correspondent of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).

Speaking at the passing-out ceremony, Professor Ayo Omotayo, Director General of NIPSS, reaffirmed the institute’s dedication to grooming quality leaders in Nigeria.

He highlighted that since its establishment in 1979, the institute has produced top leaders across both the military and public service. He encouraged aspiring leaders to take advantage of the program to refine their leadership and policy implementation skills.

The course provided a unique platform for cross-sectoral engagement, reinforcing the role of ethical leadership in national development.

In an interview, Dr. Festus Alenkhe commended the Federal Government for sustaining NIPSS over the years. He also expressed gratitude to Edo Broadcasting Service for its support and encouragement, emphasizing that the knowledge gained from the training would be put to effective use in the discharge of his duties. With professionals like Mrs.

Igbinobaro and Dr. Alenkhe actively contributed to governance and media in the course which further highlighted Edo State’s commitment to fostering capable leadership for national progress.
