Edo Central Senate’s Seat: Yakubu Determine To Recover Lost Period when Elected

It has been a source of worry and agitation to the good people of Edo Central Senatorial District over the long absence of a representative at the Senate following the vacation of the seat by the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The zone has been at a loss as no one to speak and represent their interest for over a year which has resulted in area lagging behind in legislative business as it relates to the entire Esan speaking people.
It would be recalled that prior to the primary election for the Edo State 2024 governorship election Sen. Monday Okpebholo who was representing the zone at the senate chamber left to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries where he eventually emerged as candidate.
Thereafter, the campaign for the main election started and after the election, Senator Monday Okpebholo was declared winner by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Through out these period till now Edo Central has remained without a representative at the National Assembly.
Without mixing words, as INEC is preparing to fill the vacant position, the zone needs vibrant, intelligent and very hard working person with vast experience to quickly recover and make up for the lost period.
This is where the name of Hon. John Yakubu of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), keep coming up in the public discourse especially among key stakeholders and other well meaning individuals in the zone.
They are all speaking in one voice that Hon. John Yakubu is the only person amongst the aspirants that has the capacity to take up the task of representing the zone at the upper legislative chamber at this critical time.
The people are of the opinion that since the person that will be elected may have less than two years to spend at the National Assembly, it would require extra efforts by the person to be elected to device effective and pragmatic approach to making up for the lost grounds in view of the backlog of works awaiting such a person.
The stakeholders are strongly canvassing that such person must have been tested and trusted which is why fingers are also pointing at the man of the people, John Yakubu who performed excellently well when he served as local government council chairman.
At this juncture, the good people of Edo Central are sincerely calling on the leaders of the Peoples Democratic pqPDP to graciously nominate John Yakubu as the party’s candidate while assuring them of their willingness and maximum support in mobilizing the electorate during the bye-election to ensure his victory.
