Community Begs Oba Ewuare II To Revisit Issue of Iyanomo, Oke-Iyanomo

The people of Iyanomo of Oye-Iyanomo Community in Ovia North-East Local Government area of Edo State have expressed their profound gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II for his steadfast commitment to restore traditional norms and value as regards the administration of communities in the state.

Even as they appealed to Oba Ewuare II to revisit the lingering crises between Oye and Iyanomo Communities in Ovia North-East Local Government area of the state.

Speaking to journalists in the community, the most elderly man, Pa Agbonavbare Ohiengbomwan said the destruction of buildings by some faceless soldiers is becoming unbearable to them hence the appeal to the Oba who is their god king and father to all in the kingdom.

According to him Pa Ohiengbomwan, “There is no day we don’t wake up to see destroyed buildings in Iyanomo community, a situation if not checked might lead to anarchy in the area”.

He noted that Oba Ewuare II, has made clarifications on the issue of Oye-Iyanomo in 2018 and the state Ministry of Information and Chieftaincy Affairs also carried out their own private investigation where they interviewed the neighbouring communities that have boundaries with Iyanomo where it was discovered that Oye-Iyanomo was a new creation, but that Iyanomo village has been in existence from the time of Oba Ewuare I and that there was no village called Oye or Oye-Iyanomo.

Continuing, Pa Ohiengbomwan said the villages founded during the reign of Oba Ewuare I the Great includes, Iyanomo, Obazuwa and Oghede and there was no mention of Oye or Oye-Iyanomo in the book “Evolution of Benin Titles” written by Prince Eweka.

He pointed out that they are making the clarification so that the people will know the true positions of what is happening in Iyanomo and to appeal to the great Oba Ewuare II to revisit the issue between Oye and Iyanomo communities because the continuous destruction of buildings by some faceless soldiers alleging that it was the handiwork of the Enogie of Oye that is allowing them to carryout the destruction can no longer be tolerated by the people of Iyanomo.

Also speaking the head of the youths, Iyayi Eboigbe said the lingering problem they encounter everyday is becoming too much for them to bear, hence the appeal to the great Oba Ewuare II, to invite both parties to get the real clarification on the problem of Oye and Iyanomon

“There is no day we don’t wake up to see one or two houses already completed destroyed by some faceless persons, we can continue like this and since our father, the Oba is on the throne, we won’t want to take the laws into our hands, hence our appeal to invite both parties so that the problem between Oye and Iyanomo will be resolved once and for all, he said.

“I want to use the opportunity to thank our father, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II CFR for his fatherly deposition to us all and for ensuring peace reigns in the Kingdom. We will continue to be loyal subjects and abide by the custom and tradition of the land.
