Autism Day: Edo Health Commissioner, Oshiomole Champions Inclusion for Autistic Children

The Edo State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole has urged everyone to create a world where autistic children are not hidden, misunderstood or denied opportunities, but are seen, celebrated and supported.

House Benin, Edo State.


The program organized by the Edo State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady was tagged “Advancing Neurodiversity and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
According to the Commissioner, everyone should commit to early detection and community education, as no child should suffer because of ignorance.
On her part, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edesili Okpebholo, noted that many individuals with autism face discrimination in accessing quality education, healthcare, employment, and social acceptance.


She maintained that Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged to increase funding and policy support to strengthen diagnostic, therapeutic and educational services for children and adults on the spectrum.
The program includes, show casing their works of art, drama, music presentation, placards display and poems recitation on autism amongst others.
Highpoint was the auctioning of the Art works done by the kids to the highest bidders as a point of supporting their craft.
