They are Hon. Eugene Ojie Inegbebor Esq. member representing Igueben Constituency, and Hon. Andrew Uzamere, member Representing Ovia North-East Constituency II.
The defection has significantly reduced the PDP’s membership strength in the 9th Assembly from the initial fifteen to four. APC now has twenty members!
Leading the APC State Working Committee to receive the defectors Friday, 25 July, 2025, the Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe said; “Today’s defection is a powerful signal that Edo is moving in the right direction, and that the APC is the undeniable political home for leaders with purpose, integrity, and passion for service.”
He adds that the defectors joining the ruling APC was a reinforcement of what the party stands for; being proven leaders whose experience will further enrich its vision and grassroots reach.
“Their decision to join the APC is not only significant, but a resounding affirmation of the confidence reposed in our party’s leadership, and a clear endorsement of the developmental strides of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State.”
Pointing out that the lawmakers defection to the APC was not an isolated occurrence, Tenebe asserts; “It is a part of a growing political consciousness across Edo State.
“One that aligns with accountability, vision, and inclusive development. The APC, under the leadership of our Governor, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to policies that serve the people first, and it is this very commitment that is attracting credible and forward looking leaders into our fold.”
Tenebe however solicited the unwavering support of Edo people for the Governor to enable the environment he needs to implement his bold, dynamic, and people centred programs.
“His achievements across education, infrastructure, agriculture, health, and youths empowerment are not just promises kept; they are signposts of visionary governance.
“While we rejoice in this gain, we must remain vigilant!
“We are aware of attempts by a few disgruntled elements to create unrest and destabilise the progress we are making.
“Let it be known that the APC remains united, focused, and determined to defend the peace and prosperity of our State.”
He further asserts that the strength of the ruling APC is not just in its membership number, but in its unity, discipline, and shared belief in a better Edo.
While the defectors in their speech said; that they had no choice than to dump the sinking PDP for the performing ruling APC in working to better the lot of their constituents.
