The Director General, (DG) of the National Institute of sports in Nigeria, and former deputy governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, who captained the Nigeria Union of Journalists team at the 3rd edition of the N.U.J annual football tournament, shot the NUJ team into the lead with a deftly placed penalty kick against the Sports Writers Association, SWAN yesterday.
Shaibu who easily outmaneuvered and outpaced SWAN players played a critical role on the field of play with deft passes that assisted with the foul against the NUJ. Two goals in the first and second half of the game by George Uche sealed the victory for the N.U.J.
The never-say-die NUJ team included His Excellency Philip Shaibu, Coach Bob, Odion Musa, Ediri Oyibo, George Uche, Miracle, Taofeek, Aliyu Umar, Collins, Ernest, Daniel, Stanley, Babatunde, Tobi, Tony, Efosa Clinton, Felix, Edafe, Ernest, Bamaiyi, Margret, Madam Joy and the resilient med team.
