Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, High Chief Marvelous Godwins Omobayo emerges the New Director General (DG) of International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA).
In his acceptance speech, High Chief Marvelous Godwins Omobayo at the International Press Conference held at IIEPEA Office, Maitama, Abuja on Monday, he expressed gratitude to the International Institute of Experts on Political Economy and Administration (IIEPEA) for first honouring him with an award and fellowship, and now for giving him again the privilege to serve as Director General.
He said, “I do not take for granted this huge trust and confidence reposed in me.This appointment is not just an honour—it is a responsibility. As the saying goes, to whom much is given, much is expected.
“The interface of national economy and politics, otherwise called political economy, is delicate and very important in the life of a people. We cannot take it for granted. IIEPEA recognises this reality. That is why the Institute exists, organises and engages in a variety of socio-economic and political education, training, events and certification.
“I have carefully read through my appointment letter and the responsibilities attached to this office.These include strategic leadership, partnership and links, advocacy and representation, financial prudence and management as well as innovations and clear initiatives.
“I understand clearly what is required, and I am ready to give my best. This role matches my passion and vision, which is to use knowledge, research, and leadership to improve governance, strengthen political systems, and help societies to achieve better results for their people: the summation of nation building and advancement.
“I also acknowledge that every promotion in my life comes from God Almighty. He has brought me this far, and I trust Him to guide me in this assignment. With His help, and with your cooperation, I am confident that together we will move IIEPEA to greater heights.”
He enjoined political leaders to give political economy and administration the attention they deserve saying, “working together to create positive change for ourselves and the generations to come, as whatever we enjoy or suffer in our society today was probably caused by the failure, carelessness or the concerns and struggles of past generations.
“I thank you all, and may God bless IIEPEA. May God bless our work. May God bless Edo, my State, and Akoko Edo, my Local Government Area. May God bless Nigeria, our country, and may God bless our dear world.”he said.
