Former Executive Governor of Edo State and ex-All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has drawn attention to the persistent infrastructure challenges affecting mobility in parts of Edo State.
Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, Oshiomhole described the difficulties residents face when traveling between major towns and rural areas, emphasizing the impact of poor road networks on daily life.
He stated, “I couldn’t travel from Benin to my village; sometimes it takes 8 hours because of bad roads,” highlighting the extent of the problem even for prominent figures like himself.
Oshiomhole noted that these infrastructural deficits not only disrupt personal travel but also impede economic activities, limit access to essential services, and affect the overall development of the state.
The former governor emphasized that improving roads and transportation networks is critical for economic growth, tourism, and social cohesion.
He urged current policymakers to prioritize infrastructure projects that can reduce travel times, enhance safety, and stimulate local economies.
Oshiomhole also reflected on his own tenure as governor, acknowledging the strides made in road construction and urban planning, while admitting that more work remains.
He stressed the importance of sustained investment in public infrastructure and consistent maintenance to ensure long-term benefits for communities across Edo State.
The interview sheds light on broader national concerns regarding Nigeria’s infrastructure and the challenges citizens face daily.
Oshiomhole’s candid remarks serve as a reminder that despite political achievements and leadership positions, the reality on the ground often reflects ongoing struggles that require urgent attention.
