Ex-EDHA Majority Leader Urges Aggrieved PDP Members To Sheath Sword
By Simeon OSAJIE
Former Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly Ex-Edo NDDC Commissioner and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Edo South Senatorial factional candidate, Hon. Matthew Uduriyekemwen, has urged Edo PDP leaders to unite to fight its political opponents if they must win the forthcoming election.
Hon. Uduriyekemwen said this in Benin while reacting to the Appeal Court judgement on the submission of PDP adhoc delegates list.
He said the party should bury their hatchets, conserve their energy for their real political opponents contesting the various positions with them and not to divide the party.
“This is election year, PDP is a political party, we are all brothers, we share the same political ideology and that is why we are in the same party.
“There must be an end to litigation and as this one is over, I urged everyone members of our party, especially those in my senatorial district that we all come together so that we can put our strategies to fight our real opponents which are the other political parties in the contest.
“This is what I issued in my press statement and I have been receiving phone calls from very many members of the party who are genuine members of the party, whose interest is to see the party win election and their willingness for us to work as one party because we can’t afford to fail.
“I am happy that my people in Edo South know what it means to have a very purposeful representation at the national assembly and at the red chamber.
“Having given me this mandate to represent PDP in the election, we will continue to work hard to ensure that the larger population of the electorate give us their overwhelming support so that when we get to Abuja, we will know why we are there.
“And for now, I will, like I said, all the PDP members, it is time to sheath our sword, there is no need to continue the internal fighting.
“We are all pursuing something; something that is possible to, for one person to represent at a particular point in time”, he said.
The House of Assembly Ex-Majority said it is time for the members to make sacrifice for the interest of the party adding that such can only guarantee the chances and successes of candidates vying for the various positions in the party in the forthcoming elections
“It is for everybody to be selfless, put your personal interest aside and look at the general interest of everyone of us.
“There is no point for everyone to be so hard to say it must be done my way. In life, even when a man marries to a woman, the two persons who have had different backgrounds, by the time they come into a union, must make some sacrifices, must make some compromises, accept some, and give up some.
“The leadership of the PDP across the state, very many of them, are ready for settlement, they want us to come back as a team but there are few of them who for personal reasons feel that if it can’t go my way, we must bring down the roof, no, we must not bring down the roof”, he said.
He emphasized that PDP leaders must continue to sustain the value the party is known for.
