The Property Owners at Oke-Oroma Community in Oredo local government area of Edo State on Tuesday debunked false report by faceless individual against Dr. Abdul-Wasiu Oyakhire, Secretary of the team set up by His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo state to restore property back to the owners in Community in the State.
Just as the Property Owners stated that they are satisfied with the exercise so far and unanimously passed a vote of implicit confidence on the State Commissioner For Lands and Housing Hon.Yakubu Musa and his Team and also urged them to conclude the exercise as they are anxiously waiting.
In a joint press statement signed by Hon. Ojo Collins Oghomwen, Mr. Osayomwanbor Osamudiamwen and Mr. Efe Kennedy Ewemade, Coordinator, Secretary and Public Relations officer respectively and made available to newsmen in Benin city, the state capital, the group urged the public to disregard the said publication.
According to them, “The faceless publication dated Tuesday 13th January, 2026, circulating against the person of Dr. Abdul-Wasiu Oyakhire, claiming that he is not carrying Oke-Oroma Community and property owners along and that he is working alone in doing the governor’s mandate in restoring property owners back to their properties is not true.
“We as property owners in Oke-Oroma Community stand tall to say with all sense of responsibility that the report is baseless, false, misleading and defamatory of his character, especially when it is coming from a faceless individual who is not bold enough to show his or her face.”
Going further, they added, “To set the record straight, our joy knew no bound when the Executive Governor of Edo State His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo informed us in his office that he is not interested in the lands his predecessor in office Mr. Godwin Obaseki forcefully and with total disregard to court order took from us, the property owners at Oke-Oroma Community.
“True to the Governor Okpebholo’s promise, he set-up a team headed by the Edo State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Musa Oshiorenua and Dr. Abdul-Wasiu Oyakhire as Secretary among other members.
“The team set-up, immediately swung into actions, put things in place and fixed a date for profiling after holding several meetings with the necessary stakeholders to ensure that no one is left unattended to.
“The profiling was done and everyone who came forward was attended to, we were all satisfied with the exercise, hopes were restored, the people appreciated and thanked the team and a louder appreciation went to the Governor who made it possible.
“The team thereafter moved to their office for continuation of the exercise, even calling on those who could not meet up at the field to come to the office still to ensure that no one is left out.
“We received a rude shock when we saw the said publication trying to discredit the person of Dr. Abdul-Wasiu Oyakhire. To discredit Dr. Abdul-Wasiu Oyakhire and discredit his image that took him time to build over the years without any proof or evidence is a defamation of his character, baseless and unfounded which is actionable.
“That the conclusion of the profiling exercise is hidden from the parties involved is shocking because the matter has not been concluded yet and the team is not answerable to the parties involved but the Executive Governor of Edo State who gave them the mandate.
“To also say that Dr. Abdul-Wasiu Oyakhire has gone on his own is not true, he has been and still working with the Honorable Commissioner for lands and housing and the entire team, he alone cannot do it. We the property owners have been following the exercise from behind and we are satisfied with the exercise so far.
“We are therefore using this medium to inform the general public and to whom it may concern that we the property owners at Oke-Oroma Community are satisfied with the exercise SO FAR and we unanimously pass a vote of implicit confidence on the Honorable Commissioner for lands and housing and his Team and also urge them to conclude the exercise as we are anxiously waiting.
“The only aim of the publication of the faceless individual is to delay the process and truncate the exercise; we humbly urge the general public to disregard same.”
