…As Obidient Movement in Edo collapses into ADC

The national leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Edo State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Monday lamented the inability of successive governments to have utilized the abundance resources in the country to improve the living conditions of the Nigerian citizens.
He expressed his bitterness while receiving members of the Edo Obidient Movement into the ADC folds in Benin.
Chief Oyegun who was so impressed with the turnout of the youths and their resilience, admitted that they in their own way, tried to set the country on the right path but failed adding that, the youths have come to rescue Nigeria.
According to him, “A new Nigeria is possible. I have learned that today. And a new Nigeria is truly possible. I believe that the youths of this country will make the new Nigeria possible.
“A few days ago, I was in this very hall. And joining us was a colourful and important personality. I was convinced I have seen or had seen the very best.
“Today, I climbed from outside for the first time, I saw genuine youth seated outside. I came inside here and the room was still full.
“This is my first experience of Obidient Movement in this number. My very first experience. And you know the good lesson? I can now retire convinced that the youths of this country are ready.
“And the youths of this country will create the condition that will make that new Nigeria possible. We tried. We tried. But we betrayed you. But now, you have decided to take on the struggle yourself.
“You have now decided, through the ADC, to join the struggle to rescue Nigeria and create that new nation of your dreams.
“I thank you very much. Obedient oh yeah! I am happy. I want to say that from the day the coalition came together, I was convinced that something new is finally beginning to happen in our country.
“Today, I am now saying it without a doubt, that you taking off with you, will finally land in Aso Rock, the great village”, Oyegun said.
On his part, the National Chief Whip of the party, Elder Festus Igbinoba, he tasked members to look for how to reconcile all aggrieved members of the party with the so purpose of rescuing power from the incumbent government.
He also charged them to embark on membership drive for the party.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of ADC, Hon. Kennedy Odion said the Obidient Movement is a force to reckon with and that anyone who doubts same, is living in self-denial.
He urged everyone to work for the success of the party and ensure it wins in the forthcoming general elections noting that the Obidient Movement joining the party should engage in membership drive at the ward level by encouraging nonmembers of the party to go and register at their ward level of the ADC.
For the Edo State Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Mr. Asemota Igiogbe, he expressed the group readiness to embark on aggressive mobilization of members for the party.
According to him, the wining the Obidient gave to Labour Party in Edo State will be replicated here in ADC.
