The Edo National Association Worldwide (ENAW) has launched a scholarship programme to support 360 students with the payment of their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) enrolment fees across the three senatorial districts of Edo State.
The initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians while promoting access to secondary education for students from less-privileged backgrounds. Beneficiaries were carefully selected from Edo North, Edo Central, and Edo South senatorial districts to ensure fair and equal representation across the state.
According to the Association, the scholarship scheme reflects its commitment to educational development and youth empowerment, noting that investing in education remains a critical step toward building a brighter future for Edo State and Nigeria at large.

In her remark, the First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Edesili Anani Okpebholo, who was present at the event, commended the organisation for its commitment to humanitarian service. She noted that education is the bedrock of every society and emphasized that investing in education provides many children with the opportunity to attain a better life and contribute meaningfully to society.
While appreciating the government for the Shine initiative that has given organisation and societies the will to invest in the educational sector, President of ENAW, Engr. Bose Ogbeifun-Oviasu, congratulated the recipients of this year’s award and encouraged them to remain focused and dedicated to their studies. She revealed that the Association is already working on plans to further support students who successfully pass the WAEC by assisting them with JAMB Enrolment and providing additional support toward their tertiary education.

The initiator of the awards, Mrs. Meg Ogbeide UZZ, gave a brief history of herself and explained how she came up with the initiative. She stated that providing this award to WAEC candidates is a crucial step in helping students reach their full potential adding that it serves as a springboard to ensure a brighter and more successful future for the youth in society.

Speaking with principal of one of the selected schools who benefited from the program she expressed her sincere appreciation as many students are unable to afford the enrollments fee due to lack of finance.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the great opportunity given to then to attain a brighter future and become successful and responsible individuals in the society.
