As preparations for the Multiple District 404 Convention 2026 of the Lions International, tagged “Asaba Amaka” gains momentum, leaders of the Multiple District and key heads of the Multiple District Convention Committee (MDCC) have informed the press that all is on course.
Speaking on the significance of the annual National convention for Lions, Lion (Dr) Ibrahim Jide Bello, Multiple Council Chairperson stated that the convention is a premier event that brings together Lions from across the globe to unite, inspire, and serve.
He also noted that it’s a platform for networking, learning, and community building, driving impactful service initiatives and humanitarian work.
Also responding on the level of preparedness for the event with theme: Building Bridges of Service and Unity scheduled for May 6 to 9, 2026, Lion Patricia Udeme, Past District Governor and Chairperson, MDCC noted, “We’re thrilled to host Lions International Convention 2026, Asaba Amaka! Our team is working tirelessly to ensure a seamless experience. We’ve made significant progress in venue preparations, logistics, and programming. We’re excited to welcome delegates and showcase Asaba’s hospitality. We’re on track to make this convention unforgettable!”
Lions across the multiple District 404 are registering for the event in their numbers. Lion Sylvia Effah, Registration Committee Chairperson says the response from Lions in terms of Registration across the Multiple District comprising of 6 Districts, is gaining momentum.
“We’re seeing a great response from Lions across our 6 Districts. We’ve had inquiries and registrations from various clubs, and we’re expecting a strong turnout. Our online registration portal is live, making it easy for Lions to sign up. We’re anticipating a fantastic representation from our Multiple District!” Lion Effah also stated that Registration deadline is April 24 and encouraged Lions to register before the cut off date.
Also responding, Lion (Dr) Robinson Omonigho-Okoro, host District Governor, District 404-A4, stated confidently,
“As the host District Governor, I’m thrilled with our level of preparedness! Asaba, our vibrant host city, is ready to welcome Lions from across the globe. With its rich culture, scenic views, and warm hospitality, Asaba is the perfect backdrop for Asaba Amaka. We’ve put in place robust logistics, security, and entertainment plans. We’re excited to showcase our District’s unique offerings and make this convention an unforgettable experience!”
The event, according to MDCC itinerary of events, will witness several side attractions, among which are a competitive football between Districts, a novelty football match between District Governors, Past District Governors and state Exco, and an inter District 4x100m relay race, aerobic sessions, among other competitions, says Lion Sandra Onianwa, Chairperson, Sports sub-committee. There will also be cultural night, several learning experiences, banquet and sightseeing, the organizing Committee adds.
