The Founder and Executive Director of Tomiya Helping Hand Foundation, A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Lion Prince Thomas Iyare has urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of giving and helping the indigent and less privileged members of the society.
Lion Prince Iyare made call in a chat with journalists recently on the activities of the foundation which is based in Benin City, Edo State capital.
He said the Tomiya Helping Hand Foundation has been on ground for over four years now with the main mission to create a world where nobody goes to bed without food, educational empowerment, skills empowerment and empowerment to those that need little support to boost their businesses, generally rendering humanitarian services to the indigent and less privileged members of the society.
He said the foundation also pay visitation to schools, empower the pupils/students with writing materials, books, school uniforms and ensure they have launch with them on such visitation which is done a regular basis.
He added that the foundation has also extended the empowerment to those on the streets who do not have any abode of their own, they are catered for and fixed them up, get them accommodations, and pay for their rent as well.
Going further, Lion Prince Thomas Iyare said he has been able to carry on with the humanitarian services with the little he gets from his business, as a real estate manager and also with contributions from his families and friends who believe in the vision of making the society a better place for all.
He subsequently said every December the foundation also carry out a program called “Smile” to put smile on the faces of widows and widowers, the orphans and others that are handicapped, bring them together under one umbrella to make them enjoy and feel the season of the Christmas celebration which has been going on since the birth of the foundation four years ago.
“God has kept us in the position we are today so that we can be able to help others and be our brother’s keeper by extending a helping hand to those who need help and assistance so that the society will be a better place for us all,” he added.
Lion Prince Iyare then urged those in position of authority to provide the enabling environment to Non-Governmental Organization that are genuinely carrying out humanitarian services to the people.
He then called on Nigerians who are privileged to put smile on the faces of the indigents, less privileged, widows, widowers and those that are being faced by one difficulty or another so that the society will be a better place for us all.
