Edo TUC Presents Economic Relief Options to Gov Okpebholo

The Edo State Council of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has presented a set of proposals to the state government aimed at alleviating the economic hardships facing workers in the state.

Speaking at a press briefing in Benin, the Chairman of the union, Comrade Joseph Wasah said that following a sack meeting, the union formulated several resolutions and options which they are submitting to Governor Monday Okpebholo for consideration.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor Okpebholo-led administration for the prompt payment of workers’ salaries while appealing for measures to ease the impact of the current economic situation.

Among the proposals put forward by Comrade Wasah-led TUC suggested the the release of buses to ease transportation difficulties for civil and public servants, allow workers to work from home on certain days to reduce the number of days employees commute to offices, and the provision of additional allowance or cost-of-living wage to support workers during the current economic challenges.

He expressed confidence that the Governor would consider one of these options, bringing relief and renewed optimism to workers across the state.

Additionally, the TUC Chairman urged the Governor to direct the State Accountant-General to release the Union’s checkup dues, which have reportedly been withheld for 14 months.

Comrade Wasah commending the Governor for his developmental initiatives, highlighting the construction of the state’s first flyover bridge and other visible infrastructural projects across the state.
