To commemorate the lives of Sir Vincent and Lady Catherine Agbonrofo of blessed memory, the Saints Vincent and Catherine Medical Aid Foundation on Sunday organized a free practical training session in Benin, focusing on essential life-saving techniques to assist victims of sudden collapse.
The initiative, in commemoration of the lives of Sir Vincent and Lady Catherine Agbonrofo, aimed to address the rising concern of sudden collapse incidents across the nation.
Dr. Moses Momoh, Chairman at the event organized by Saints Vincent and Catherine Medical Aid Foundation, emphasized the critical importance of widespread knowledge in resuscitation techniques.

He highlighted the program’s objective to empower individuals with the skills necessary to save lives and further disseminate the knowledge within their respective communities.
Dr. Momoh expressed gratitude to the participants for their enthusiastic participation and commended the organizers for their proactive response to the increasing prevalence of sudden collapse cases.
Earlier, Chairman, Board of Directors of the Foundation of Saints Vincent and Catherine Medical Dr. Hope Agbonrofo PhD said the training is targeted at helping people by providing practical training encompassing crucial life-saving interventions.

He said participants benefited from various techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid for choking victims, and the fundamental care of unconscious individuals.
Speaking to journalists, the Director of Saints Vincent and Catherine Medical Aid Foundation, Dr. Peter Agbonrofo said the training is targeted at helping people who had issues, whether medical issues or other social issues.
According to him, we set up the foundation in memory of our parents, Sir Vincent and Lady Catherine Agbonrofo, because they had this mindset of helping people.

Dr. Peter said, “So we felt the best way of keeping their legacy going was to find a way of giving medical aid to those who need it, particularly in areas of advocacy, free medical checks and trainings like this. So that was the idea behind the foundation.
“And this year, we decided to do a basic life support training for people who are non-medical personnel, so they know what to do whenever their loved ones collapse.”
Participants at the free practical training session gained hands-on experience utilizing mannequins and supplementary training apparatus, affording them the opportunity to hone and amplify their proficiencies under the supervision of seasoned medical practitioners.

The training program underscores the Saints Vincent and Catherine Medical Aid Foundation’s commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and fostering a culture of preparedness in Nigeria.
By providing free, practical training in basic life support, the foundation seeks to create a network of skilled individuals capable of responding effectively to medical emergencies and ultimately saving lives.
Medical personnel from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care and Paramedics Training School were visibly present to make the event a success.
