Prof. Afekhide Ernest Omoti has been elected as the new National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
The election saw Prof. Omoti secured a decisive victory with 253 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Dr. Nosa Lancy Orhue, who received 143 votes.
The outcome officially designates Prof. Omoti as the President of the Nigerian Medical Association.
Prior to his election as NMA National President, Prof. Omoti served as the Chairman of the Edo State Branch of the NMA.
His extensive experience and leadership within the association have paved the way for this significant achievement.
The announcement of his victory has been met with widespread approval and anticipation for his tenure.
Congratulatory messages have been pouring in, including commendation from Prof. (Mrs) Idia Ize-Iyamu, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
Prof. Ize-Iyamu celebrated the election of Prof. Omoti, a Professor of Ophthalmology and Honorary Consultant at UBTH, recognizing it as a testament to his distinguished career and academic excellence.
