Call Edun Akwnzua Jnr To Order, Community Appeals To Oba Ewuare II
…Says imposition of Okaighele is unacceptable

The People of Obazuwa Community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State has called on Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin Kingdom to come to their rescue as Agharese Edun Akenzua Jnr. is creating crisis in the community by imposing Kingsley Oteghekpen on them as Okaighele.
The call was made by the community people at the Obazuwa Community Town Hall in Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State.
Addressing newsmen, the acting Odionwele of the Community, Pa. Aimuamwenosa Oyemwense, (the Ozukpogieva of Obazuwa Community), said that since the existence of Obazuwa Community, they have been living in peace.
Speaking, Pa. Oyemwense said, “we the Elders of Obazuwa Community woke up to a rude shock over the news of the strange pronouncement by Agharese Edun Akenzua Jnr., on the 3rd day of August, 2022, declaring a certain Kingsley Oteghekpen, a non-indigene of Obazuwa Community, the Okaighele of the Community.
He said, “We don’t know where he derives the powers to create and impose an Okaighele on the Community, and in what capacity does he has to pronouncement anybody as Okaighele. This is against the Tradition and Customs of the Binis.
“(The video clip wherein he made the strange pronouncement is hereby attached for public attention and – scrutiny)”, he said
Going further, Pa. Oyemwens said that the most bizarre, pathetic and outrageous about this ugly development is the fact that the character in question is a suspect who is facing Police investigation for attempted murder and he is currently on bail after spending over two months in Police custody.
“We the people of Obazuwa are peace loving and loyal subjects to the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba, N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare ll. We respect the Bini customs and traditions and will not condone any action by any person in our Community that is trying to undermine and desecrate Benin tradition”.
“We are most worried over this provocative action of Agharese Edun Akenzua Jnr., and we plead with His Royal Majesty, Omo N”Oba, N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolor, Oba Ewuare II ,Oba of Benin Kingdom to intervene in this matter and call Agharese Akenzua Jnr., to order, to avoid a total breakdown of law and order in Obazuwa Community.
“We call on Agharese Akenzua Jnr.,
to renounce the purported proclamation of an illegitimate Okaighele in Obazuwa community as it desecrate the Tradition and Customs of the Binis,” he advised.
Also speaking, Pa Felix Omoruyi, second in command in the community said, it was a big shock to them in the community when they were showed the video of Agharese Akenzua Jnr., declaring a non indigene, Kingsley Oteghekpen as Okaighele of Obazuwa Community.
He appealed to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin to please intervain in the crisis.
Several phone calls put across by The9jaTREND to Agharese Akenzua Jnr. to get his reaction to the allegations proved abortive as his phone was switched off as at the time of filing in this report.
