WORLD ORTHODONTIC HEALTH DAY: NAO President Ize-Iyamu tasks Nigerians On Oral Health for Healthy Smiles

The President of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists (NAO), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, on Friday, joined the global community in commemorating World Orthodontic Health Day, urging Nigerians to seek professional dental care and avoid unqualified practitioners.

The President of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists (NAO) noted that Orthodontists give individuals seeking corrective care for their teeth a smile that gives confidence and improves their personality.

In her address, she emphasized the importance of regular dental check-up and cautioned against seeking treatment from unqualified individuals.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu, who is also the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), highlighted the significance of the annual event.

According to Prof. Ize-Iyamu, the World Orthodontic Health Day, serves as a platform to unite orthodontists, patients, and the public in promoting the importance of proper alignment of the teeth and overall oral health.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu said the World Orthodontic Health Day held every May 15th is organized by the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), adding that the day is a global initiative to celebrate the transformative power of orthodontic treatment.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu emphasized that UBTH and other teaching hospitals across the country are observing the World Orthodontic Health Day to raise awareness about how orthodontics can enhance well-being, boost confidence, and improve the overall quality of life for individuals worldwide.
