Several members of Nigeria’s Super Falcons have reportedly fallen victim to a theft incident at the team’s hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The players are said to have discovered that cash was missing from their wallets after returning to their rooms at the Marriott Hotel, where the team is currently camped as preparations intensify for the continental tournament.
According to reports, forward Esther Okoronkwo lost $700, while captain Rasheedat Ajibade reportedly had $200 stolen. Defender Osinachi Ohale is said to be missing $100, Joy Omewa allegedly lost $120, and midfielder Halimatu Ayinde reported $100 missing.
The combined amount allegedly stolen from the affected players is $1,220, equivalent to approximately ₦1.7 million.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not issued an official statement on the incident or confirmed whether an investigation has been launched.
The Super Falcons are currently in Casablanca for the final phase of their preparations, with head coach Justine Madugu overseeing training as the full squad gears up for the tournament.
Nigeria, the defending champions, are expected to travel to Rabat for their opening Group C fixture against Malawi. The group also features Zambia and Egypt as the nine-time African champions begin their quest for another continental title.
