An Edo Born philanthropist and community leader, Ambassador Charles Eghaghe and his lawyer have given seven days ultimatum to those accusing him of being a cultist to retract the allegation or face libel.
The duo gave the ultimatum during an exclusive interview with journalists in Benin, Edo State capital.
Ambassador Eghaghe said he was taken aback when in a meeting in Government House with the Senior Special Adviser (SSA) on Security to Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo was accused of being a cultist.
He said it was a big embarrassment on his person as he has never associated himself with any person of such how much more been a member of any organization relating to cultism.
Ambassador Eghaghe said as a peace loving fellow he has decided to firstly put the record straight on media before proceeding if the needful is not done by his accusers.
According to him, “My reputation which took me years to build is at stake and cannot or will never be tarnished just like that. Everybody knows me as a peace loving citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nobody can paint me or label me with nothing l know nothing about.”
On his part, his lawyer said such grievous allegation against his client can’t be taken lightly hence the need to counter the claim to the world through the media before taking the accusers before the judiciary.
However the name mentioned during interview Hon. Osahon Imaro in a phone interview said the issue came up during a petition read and wondered why persons will misconstrued his stance saying is ready for anything.
