The Edo South Senatorial Candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election, Hon. Sunny Aguebor popularly called “BIBI” has reaffirmed that he is the party’s duly nominated candidate, dismissing claims by other individuals presenting themselves as NDC candidates.
In a statement dated July 28, Aguebor said the conclusion of the party’s ward, local government and state congresses had reaffirmed the strength of the NDC’s internal democratic process.
He said he emerged as the winner of the party’s primary election and that the outcome had been consistently upheld by the NDC National Executive Committee, which recognises only the winner of the duly conducted primary as the party’s official candidate.
According to Aguebor, “I received the party’s nomination form through the Edo State Chairman, Engr. Olukoga, confirming my candidacy for the 2027 Edo South Senatorial election.”
He described as false and misleading claims by some individuals who continue to present themselves as NDC candidates for the district.
“There is only one duly nominated candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress for the Edo South Senatorial District,” Aguebor said, identifying himself as that candidate.
He urged party members, supporters and stakeholders to remain calm and focused, saying the party should concentrate on preparations for the 2027 election rather than internal distractions.
Aguebor said his campaign team would soon unveil its organisational structure, policy agenda and grassroots mobilisation plans across the seven local government areas of Edo South.
He pledged to provide principled leadership, practical solutions and effective representation if elected.
The NDC candidate also thanked party members and supporters for their backing throughout the nomination process, expressing confidence that the party would move forward with unity ahead of the 2027 polls.
