Obi made the comment while denial that he had discussed forming an alliance with Atiku and resigning before the 2023 election.

Recall Atiku claimed a few days ago that he was in touch with the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and his counterpart in the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.

Atiku said that he is in contact with Peter Obi, the nominee of the Labour Party (LP), in an interview with BBC Hausa. He claimed that Obi and Kwankwaso do not endanger his prospects of winning the election.

“Since we are not associated with them, I see no threat” (Kwankwaso and Obi). We are in communication with them, and one of them might show up,” he said.

When asked about the ongoing PDP Crisis, Atiku responded, “Each party has its own internal crisis; we are still dealing with them. Most people are neither PDP members nor members of any other parties, but this will not lead us to lose the election because we are currently satisfied with how the polls are being prepared. Elections today are controlled by the voters, unlike in the past when a governor would determine who to vote for.”

Speaking via Diran Onifade, Head of his Media, Presidential Campaign Council, Obi claimed he was running for the Presidency and would not resign.

“We have been overwhelmed with inquiries about the claim of an ongoing negotiation between our Presidential candidate and the camp of the PDP’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar,” according to a statement released by Onifade.

“Peter Obi is in the race to win in line with the aspiration of the majority of Nigerians who want a New Nigeria free of deceit, corruption, and self-serving plotting,” says the campaign website.
