Edo State University To Open Up New Programmes – VC

The Edo State University, Uzairue is set to open to new programmes such as Pharmacy and Post Graduate programmes in other areas to compliment what it already have on ground.

This was made known by Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, Vice Chancellor of the University during the 7th Founder’s Day ceremony of the university. He commended the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu for their continuous support for the university and for creating enabling environment for the university to strive.

The VC also thanked the guest lecturer, Gen. Lucky Irabor for accepting to deliver this year’s Founder’s Day lecture titled, “National Defence Policy And Transitional Justice Approach In The War Against Insurgency In Nigeria” and for finding time to come down and however requested him to take a tour of the university, saying that the beauty of the university is not just the architectural masterpiece, but in the content and facilities available for teaching and research.

“Over the years, we have had the opportunity to invite Nigerians who occupied high positions in the society to speak to the university community on the achievements and on how they have contributed their quotas to the development of Nigeria and humanity”, saying that “over the years the lectures have taken us through the paradox inherent in the administration of diverse social political dispensation in Nigeria and how the country can made a better place”.

Prof. Aluyor said that the lectures over the years have gradually shaped the outlook of the Edo State University Uzairue Founder’s Day ceremony where both students and parents look forward  where important issues on how Nigeria can be harness into a country of our collective dreams are delivered.

He said these achievements were made possible by the state government by established the university in 2016 with the mandate to rival the avery University and also provided  level playground for sound scholarship for national development.

“Edo State University Uzairue since inception have been committed to the pursuit of world class goals in teaching, learning and research which is why we are proud of our products.

“Some of our graduates have competed and secured funding for post graduate in foreign universities and national scholarship awards,” he said.

Going further, he opined that last year some of the lecturers and researchers are listed among the first 500 researchers in Nigeria while the Nursing and Medical laboratory students recorded 100% success in their Council’s exams.

“These have made the university continue to stand out among Nigerian public universities saying that the management is proud for the success recorded in one of the fly-ship programmes, the MBBS programme as the university has been able to graduate her pioneer medical students in a record time of 6 years and 2 weeks as the set of medical doctors’ convocation will take place first week of November, adding that the students took part of the MBBS exams and passed with fly colours.”

The Vice Chancellor particularly thanked the governor for the upgrade of the Auchi General Hospital Auchi to Edo State University Uzairue Teaching Hospital which he said contributed to the full accreditation of the MBBS programme by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

He further reiterated that Edo State University Uzairue has become the first choice of university among the comity of state universities in Nigeria.

“We want to assure the university community that the university will continue to maintain the highest standard of delivery quality education to the students” he emphasized.

The VC also affirmed that it is possible to get quality of education you get overseas here in Nigeria.
