One of the leading contestants in the 2021 Edo State All Progressives Party (APC) Congress slated for Saturday 16th October, 2021, Chief Francis Inegbeniki has dissociated himself from APC meeting which was called at the instance of some members of the party and therefore appealed to the leadership of the party and the Chairman of Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), H. E. Mai Mala Buni to intervene and stop the party in the state from imminent political annihilation.
Briefing newsmen in Benin City, Chief Inegbeniki said, majority of the party leaders in the state completely dissociate themselves from the meeting.
According to him, “I, and majority of our party members completely dissociate ourselves from that illegal meeting and it’s undemocratic decision, and as such, insist on a free and credible APC State Congress as stipulated by the Constitution of All Progressives Party (APC) and the Congress Guidelines released by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
“We are by this medium appealing to the leadership of our party and the Chairman of CECPC, His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni to intervene and stop our party in Edo State from imminent political annihilation.
“There is a rumor going round, that, I have step down or asked to step down. I’m here to set the record straight and therefore, I wish to state emphatically, that, I’m still on the race!
“It is true, that, there was a kangaroo meeting, held few hours ago, where it was insinuated that, the Edo APC state congress will not hold as scheduled, but, rather a process that is alien to the ethos and principles of democracy will be adopted, whereby an incompetent state executives will be handpicked and imposed on the party.
“I hereby dissociate myself from such undemocratic decision of a kangaroo and illegally constituted meeting,” he opined.
