Family Of Kidnapped Edo PDP Chairman Apprehensive Of His Whereabouts, Begs Perpetrators To Spear His Life

Family members of the Kidnapped Edo State People’s Democratic Party Chairman are apprehensive over the whereabouts of their son, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, saying that the family was no longer comfortable because more than 48 hours after the incident, no information has been received on his whereabout.
A member of the family, Sam Ogbeiye, who spoke to The9jaTREND in Benin City said the family’s apprehension was occasioned by the inability of family to know the whereabouts of the Dr. Tony Aziegbemi or hear from the kidnappers who were allegedly hooded at the time they abducted him close to his house.
He said the driver who was driving him home narrated that the chairman’s two handsets were left inside the car and none of them was taken by the kidnappers which he said may have made it impossible to make contact with the family.
Ogbeiye however appealed to the kidnappers to spare his life and make contact with the family, just as he called on the security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the chairman’s freedom unhurt.
Meanwhile, Edo State Police Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, in a statement in Benin City said the command has immediately given a marching order to the police tactical team leaders to conduct a rescue party, just as he also ordered a full scale investigation into the Kidnapping of the PDP Chairman.
The statement signed by SP Chidi Nwabuzor, Police Public Relation Officers, (PPRO), Edo State Command stated that the police command is aware of the kidnap of Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the State Chairman of the PDP on Friday 15th March, 2024 at about 2345hrs.
Nwabuzor said the information of the PDP Chairman’s kidnap was received from his driver one Joseph Impete, who reported the incident at the New Etete Division, Benin City.
“The driver who is an eye witness to the horrible incident, reported that on 15/03/2024 the victim of kidnap Dr Tony Aziegbemi attended a meeting at the Edo State Government House, Benin City and on their way returning home from the meeting, close to his house six (6) armed men on a convoy of two white colour Toyota Corolla saloon car, registration number unknown, accosted them along Bishop, Dr J.O.E. Edokpolor Boulevard Junction, Off Country Home, Benin City.
“And immediately Dr. Tony Aziegbemi noticed them he jumped out of his Ash colour Toyota Prado Jeep for the safety of his dear life, while he, the driver also ran out of the vehicle and laid down on the ground.
“But the hoodlums chased Dr. Tony Aziegbemi and threatened to shoot him if he refused to stop, so he stopped and they ceased him, threw him inside his Toyota Prado Jeep and took him away to unknown destination.
“The Commissioner of Police Edo State Command, CP Funsho Adegboye, who received the report of the incident with a shock immediately gave a marching order to the tactical team leaders to conduct a rescue party in collaboration with the Vigilantes group and the hunters to rescue him unhurt.
“He, however, solicits for the cooperation of the law-abiding citizens of Edo State and urged them to give information to the Police that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and the rescue of the victim unhurt”.
