Urhoghide Formally Joins APC With Supporters

A two-term senator represented Edo South Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th Assembly of the red chamber of the National Assembly under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Chairman Senate Committee of Public Accounts, Senator Matthew Urhoghide today 13th April, 2024 formally decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along his supporters.

Among those who joined Senator Urhoghide to decamp to APC are former Clerk of the House of Representatives, Patrick Giwa, eight ex-council chairmen, namely; Hon. Frank Ilaboya, Hon. Josey Ogendegbe, Hon. Ruth Ekunwe, Hon. Napoleon Agbamah, Hon. Andy Oseiwe, Comrade George Akhigbe, Hon Augustine Okoiwele and Hon. Saturday Iyoha

The event which took place at Crown Heart Event Centre, on Country Home Road, Ugbor, GRA., Benin City, Edo State capital was attended by APC chieftains across the three senatorial districts of the State.

Addressing the marmot crowd at the event, Senator Urhoghide expressed his delight at returning to the fold of mature politicians, a party, in whose leaders he trusts and has confidence.

He assured the party that he has returned to help build it and enthrone its candidate in the September 21 governorship election.

A former governor of Edo State, former APC national chairman now senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, praised Urhoghide’s experience and nominated him as the party’s director-general for the upcoming Edo State governorship election campaign team, a position Urhoghide wholeheartedly accepted.

Senator Oshiomhole also described Urhoghide as a robust, resourceful, and dogged politician whose wealth of experience would have a great impact on the party’s chances of success.

The defectors were officially received by Edo APC leaders including Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and State Party Executives led by Emperor Jarret Tenebe, who all expressed their optimism and readiness to work together to ensure the party’s success during the governorship election in September 2024.
