Charles Idahosa: “Bread and Butter Politicians” – Nehikhare
By Simeon OSAJIE
Edo State government today, Monday 13, 2024 said the defection of a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Charles Idahosa to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is laughable saying the latter has no political value because he believes in “bread and butter politics. “
The state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City, Edo State capital, saying Idahosa was a liability and was never sworn in as a member of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT).
He said Idahosa is a politician who believes in bread and butter politics and as such he is not be a threat to the PDP.
Nehikhare said, “Idahosa was never a member of the PDP BoT. I Challenge him to this. Even though he was nominated, he was shun by the party. It is the desperation of being shun, that has driven him back to APC, which he never left in the first place, because he was holding on to the Board appointment which he was offered while in the APC prior 2020.
“Charles Idahosa is a dishonourable person. He has nothing to offer any political party or any group he joins because he believes in bread and butter politics.”
Nehikhare noted that no political leader in the state can hold the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to ransom or blackmail him to service his or her political interests or provide stomach infrastructure at the expense of the state development.
Nehikhare also disassociated the state government led by Godwin Obaseki from the case in court against the revered Royal Father, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin.
He said the rumour making the rounds on social media of an impending court case is the handiwork of enemies of the State and should be disregarded.
