Oshiomhole Reassures APC Of Unalloyed Commitment

…Denieas allegation of romance with Obseki/Asue

Former two time Executive Governor of Edo State, Ex APC National Chairman and senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has reassured the party of his sincere commitment to its victory in the September 21 governorship election.

Oshiomhole said his determination to ensure the victory of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Senator Monday Okphebholo and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa was unshakable.

He spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting held in his Abuja residence at the weekend.

The former Edo State Governor was reacting to rife speculations that he was secretly working  for his friend, Asue Ighodalo who is the PDP candidate.

Suspicion against Oshiomholo rose when his close loyalist, Chris Osa Uhuangho of Chris Osa Social Media and his confidant, Chief Francis Inegbineki defected to PDP.

Chief Inegbineki hails from the same Esan Central Local Government Area as the APC governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo.

A source at the meeting who preferred not to be mentioned told journalists in Benin City on Sunday that for the first time, aggrieved APC leaders tackled Senator Oshiomhole head on.

“He was particularly reminded that he has been the cause of Edo APC crisis since 2016 when he imposed Mr. Godwin Obaseki as governorship candidate on the secret condition that Obaseki would relinquish the leadership of the party to him”, the source revealed.

A leader from Edo South reportedly confronted him with the allegation that he boasted that he can never have Senator Okpebholo as his leader.

Another accused him of a pre-2016 convinant among him, Godwin Obaseki and Asue Ighodalo to collaborate and work to ensure that they rule Edo State in succession. 

He said Oshiomhole’s recent romance with Obaseki buttress the rumour of secret settlement between them. They further accused him of systematically balkanizing the structures of the party in  Central and South districts so that APC will only win in his North District to exonerate himself of sabotage after the defeat. They alleged that Oshiomhole vehemently vowed not to allow some credible and popular voices feature in the APC campaign council.
