Why Protesters Barricade Ojuromi Palace

The Ojuromi of Uromi His Royal Highness Anselm Edenojie II, has expressed his displeasure over the unsubstantiated allegations of his involvement in kidnapping and killings that have been taking place in his domain, Uromi, the administrative headquarters of Esan Northeast Local Government area, of Edo State, South-South Nigeria.
Recalled some protesting youths barricaded all the roads leading to the palace of the Onojie of Uromi Kingdom, High Royal Majesty, Eidenojie II, the Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom, alleging that the Ojuromi has been fingered and accused of aiding and abetting kidnapping in the local government area.
The Protesters earlier demanded for His Royal Majesty to come out and address them over his alleged involvement in the saga.
Ojuromi, who addressed a group of protesting youths at his palace demanding an explanation from the Onojie as to why a successful security outfit was asked to stop operating and hand over to the ex-leadership headed by one Iriso, asserted that he never had anything to do with kidnapping in his domain and wondered why anyone could associate such evil acts against his kingdom and subjects with him.
“I personally felt insulted by that allegation. Why would anyone think I would be that wicked and heartless to send strangers to be kidnapping and killing my people for money? How much would kidnappers pay me to be killing my subjects?
“Only God knows the kind of personal sacrifices I make monthly for this land to enjoy peace. And by the way, I’m a successful businessman, and God has blessed me with good children of this kingdom who never allow me to lack anything, why would I be involved in anything so evil and wicked against my people?”
“God forbid,” the maverick king concluded.
Recalled the leadership of Esan North-East Vigilante team headed by Daniel Ibhahebhomhen, Second One Commander were able to apprehend one of the kidnappers and handed him over to the Divisional Police Officer of Uromi Police Station, DPC Kalu.
It was discovered that the kidnapper who was apprehended by the local government vigilantes confessed one police officer named Kingsley as one who is assisting them in the kidnapping business in the area.
When contacted by The9JaTREND over the insecurity in the local government area and the allegations levelled against the Ojuromi, the Council Chairman, Hon. Kelly Inegbedion said he is on top of the matter to resolve the issue.
Also contacted by The9JaTREND, the Uromi Police DPO Kalu said he has sent signal to the State Police Command in Benin City over the arrest and the confession of a police officer that he was in Benin City for usual Monday security briefing with the State Commissioner of Police.
When The9JaTREND put a call to the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP Chidi Nwanbuzor on the arrest of a kidnapper at Uromi who also confessed that a police officer named Kingsley is aiding and abetting kidnapping in Uromi, he said, “I just returned from one week PRO training and I am yet to be briefed on the matter”.
