Benin Agog As Obi Storms Oba Palace For Akpata

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi stormed Benin City, Edo State capital to seek royal blessings
from the Oba of Benin Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II for Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, the LP Governorship Candidate for the 21st gubernatorial election in the State.
While thanking the Oba of Benin for his fatherly role, Obi said the nation can only be great if there is free, fair and credible election.
He said that he believes with the prayers of the Oba Ewuare II, the party can make a head way as it begins its political campaigns ahead of the September 21 governorship election in the state.
Speaking also, the Edo State governorship candidate of the party, Olumide Akpata said he was at the palace with the national leadership of the party to seek the Oba’s blessings and to inform him that he is commencing his political campaigns.
Akpata said it would be very wrong for him to have go on with his campaign without him visiting the Oba for his blessings.
He said he believes that his prayers will go a long way as he embarks on his mission of rescuing the state.
Akpata said that the party is strong and vibrant to wrestle power and deliver the dividends of democracy to the 18 local government areas that made up the state.
While welcoming the august visitors to his palace, Oba Ewuare II said he wishes them well as they take their political campaigns through the length and breadth of the state.
Earlier, the presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Obi was received at the state’s party secretariat before embarking on a road walk through major streets of the Benin metropolis.
He was received by marmot crowd who besieged the new State secretariat of Labour Party at Kings Square, by Sakponba Road, Benin City.
Later in the day, the senator representing Edo South Senator District at the national assembly, Senator Nelda Imansuen inaugurated the campaign secretariat of Olumide Akpata Campaign Council along Boundary Road, GRA., Benin City.
