Edo APC Faults SSG Holding On To Power

Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has frown at the continuation of Barr. Osarodion Ogie as Secretary to State Government, (SSG) while at the same time posing as the running mate to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Asue Ighodaro, in the forthcoming September 21 gubernatorial election in the state.
The party in a press statement signed by the Acting State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, urged Ogie to resign as SSG, as his stay in office is also a violation of the public service rules which prohibit a public servant from using public resources to fund private purpose.
Tenebe stated that, the action of Barr. Ogie is patently unacceptable and an affront to the good people of Edo State.
As an unelected public officer, Barr. Ogie is hereby given an ultimatum to resign forthwith as his continuing stay in office is a clear violation of all known rules of decency and ethics.
According to him, “By remaining in office, while posing as running mate in the gubernatorial election, Ogie is also in violation of the public service rules which prohibit a public servant from using public resources to fund private purpose.”
He alleged that, “Ogie is currently earning salary and other official benefits as Secretary to the State Government, even while pursuing a private ambition to become deputy governor. He’s using official vehicles and other government logistics to service his electioneering campaign. This is totally unacceptable and a waste of taxpayers’ money. This is the very definition of corruption.
Adding that, “No unelected public servant should be allowed to do this. It’s patently wrong and a disservice to the state and the long suffering people of Edo State.”
The APC, Edo State therefore issues an ultimatum to Barr. Osarodion Ogie to resign as the Secretary to Edo State Government forthwith, failing which serious civil and criminal actions will be taken against him for dissipating and misusing the lean resources of Edo State, for his private election campaign.
