EDOSCO Accuses Agho Omobude Over Allege Anti-Group Activities

…Advises him to step aside immediately

Some members of the Edo Civil Society (EDOSCO) has accused the Coordinator-General of the group, Comrade Agho Omobude for engaging in an alleged anti group activities and advised him to immediately step aside so as to allow capable person to pilot the affair of the group.

In a petition Signed by Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, Mr. Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, Barr. Saintmichael Eguaogie, Comrade Dickson Igbinogun, Comrade Idris Zekeri, Comrade Imafidon Imadeyogie Stephen and Comrade Isibor Terry Orobosa and made available to newsmen at a press conference in Benin, they said it is very obvious that Omobude’s action by working for Mr. Godwin Obaseki, Edo State governor and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 gubernatorial election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo is against the constitution of the group.

According to them, “It is often said that when a purpose of course or action is undefined, abuse becomes inevitable which liken to Agho Omobude and his group who always play hide and seek game as it’s relate to their protest dated 13th of September 2024, they embarked upon wherein they requested that INEC and Nigeria Police should be neutral during and after the fast approaching Governorship elections.

“Therefore, the aforementioned postulation has propelled us to ask Agho Omobude and his group some very pertinent questions which are as follows:

“(1) When Obaseki manipulated the 2023 House of Assembly elections with the help of his militia vigilante, why didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protest against Obaseki undemocratic actions??

“(2) When Obaseki rigged Local Government Councils elections with the help of his militia vigilante in conjunction with ESIEC, why didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protest against Obaseki and ESIEC even when it was glaring that Godwin Obaseki is not willing to allow a level play field for opposition political parties??

“(3) When Godwin Obaseki prevented some distinguished Palace Chiefs, Women and Youths with the help of Police from having access to High Court premises on two occasions, why didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protested against Obaseki barbaric and sacrilegious acts??

“(4) When Inspector Onu Akon was gruesomely murdered at the Exit of Benin Airport by Obaseki thugs/militia Vigilante as confirmed by Nigeria Police, why didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protested against Obaseki action??

“(5) When Obaseki refused to inaugurate the 14 members of House of Assembly that were elected under APC, while didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protested against Obaseki undemocratic actions??

“(6) When Obaseki was running the affairs of Edo State with 10 Members of House of Assembly who were elected under PDP as against the constitution of the Country, why didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protested against Obaseki undemocratic and barbaric action??

“(7) When Obaseki proclaimed that Nigeria will burn if his anointed candidate, Asue Ighodalo didn’t win, why didn’t Agho Omobude and his group protested against Obaseki undemocratic and unguarded statement??

“(8) Why the sudden and commando return of Agho Omobude at peak of Edo Governorship elections as Co-ordinator General Edo Civil Society Society (EDOSCO) even when he had served for 2 terms (8years) which is a violation of the said Group constitution??

“Therefore, in view of the puzzle we poses to Agho Omobude and his group, it crystal clear that Agho Omobude is working for Obaseki and his anointed candidate Asue Ighodalo and we want to use this medium to remind Agho Omobude to note that he has over stayed his function as the Coordinator General of the Edo Civil Society (EDOSCO) group and we hereby advise that Agho Omobude should immediately step aside to allow capable person to take over the affair of the group.”

In a swift reaction through telephone call over the allegations leveled against him, Comrade Omobude said, “those accusing me of anti group activities and working for the candidate of PDP are not even members of the Edo Civil Society (EDOSCO) group.”
