While briefing newsmen in Benin City, the state Acting Chairman of the Party, Emperor Jarret Tenebe said the party is worried that those who are caught on the footage of the scene are seen parading the street of Edo State.
According to him, “We has it on good authority that the Governor is prepared to unleash these persons on innocent voters on the day of election, as they are now been warehoused at the Government House.
“Because of the formidable assurances that the Governor has given to these persons, hence their continuous inflammatory statements that they will burn down Edo State if the candidate of PDP is not declared winner of the Saturday 21st September, 2024 Governorship Election. For the avoidance of doubt, one of those on the wanted list of the police was seen in the same vehicle with the governor during campaign.
“Furthermore one of the alleged killer squad of the governor, was captured on viral video where he was threatening to burn down Edo if PDP candidate is not declared winner of the Saturday’s Governorship election.
“We are also aware vide intelligent gathering that the governor is working with some Army Generals aimed at undermining the legitimacy of the election.
“It is also in public space that the governor has sewn police uniforms for people who are not policemen, to be used to cause mayhem on the day of election.
“As shown on viral video on social media, the governor has directed members of his killer squad to pour petrol on buildings housing the various collation centres where is perceived that APC is on the lead
“We are also informed reliably, that the GOVERNOR who has maintained the posture of a tyrant, had deployed his hoodlums along the waterways of the riverine areas of the State, hence he was at Ologbo yesterday to give a taxi boat to those domicile along the riverine area.”
“While we trust on the police to discharge their duties within the established laws, we are concerned about the continuous undesirable freedom being enjoyed by these hoodlums.”
