Urhoghide Distributes Generator Sets, Tricycles, Bikes, Sewing Machines, Grinding Machines To Constituents

….Beneficiaries Cut Across Political Affiliations

The senator representing Edo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator (Pharm.) Matthew Urhoghide, has empowered residence of Edo South Senatorial District with various materials which include Generator Sets, Tricycles, Bikes, Sewing Machines and Grinding Machines.

186 Generator Sets, 37 Tricycle (Keke NAPEP), 75 Motorcycles, 333 Sewing Machines and 86 Grinding machines were distributed.

Senator Urhoghide also stated that God will not forgive him if he had pocketed the money meant for the empowerment of the people of his constituency.

Addressing beneficiaries at the presentation ceremony at Etete Road, GRA., Benin City, Edo State capital, Senator Urhoghide said, “I want all of you to feel that you belong to a family. If I have wanted to personalize these items and put the money in my pocket, all what we are seeing here today, you will not see them, but God will not forgive me if I do it. So if I have made the sacrifice to you, please use it to the benefit of your family.

“Particularly our youths, empowerment is not the million I give to you. Even if I give you a generator and there is power failure and you take it to your house, you have empowered your family”, he said.

Senator Urhoghide popularly called “Matto” by his admirers said that he feels the pains of the unemployed and that the government cannot tackle the problem alone but the collective effort of everyone pointing that, that is the reason he has to press so hard to ensure that such empowerment items are made available to the people of his senatorial district.

Speaking to newsmen, Senator Urhoghide added that the beneficiaries cut across political affiliations and promised to make sure that every residence in the senatorial district benefit from his empowerment programme.

“This is the fourth edition of my empowerment programme. The beneficiaries cut across political affiliations, inasmuch as you are a residence in Edo South, you must benefited from my constituency programmes.

“The beneficiaries you are seeing here today came from the 7 local government areas that make up Edo South Senatorial District.

I will ensure that those who were captured in this edition will be the ones to benefit in the subsequent empowerment programme. So, if you are not capture here, be rest assure that you must benefit,” he said.

Urhoghide, while admonishing the recipients of the items not to sell them said they have no reason to be poor if they should judiciously make use of them to better their lots.

He appealed to members of the constituency who have not benefited from his empowerment programme to be patient and wait for the next phase.
