The Elderly Persons Association of Nigeria (EPAN), Edo State Chapter has called on Edo people to cooperate with the directive of the state government on people of the state to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

In a press statement on behalf of EPAN, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Chief Eddy Ogbomo described the exercise as the best option to curb the spread of the latest Delta variant of the virus.

According to him, “I want to use this medium to call on all Edolites to come out and get vaccinated so as to curb the spread of the latest Delta of the virus.

“We from the Elderly Persons Association of Nigeria (EPAN) observed with keen interest, the steps being taken by Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

“It is not as if the governor does not mean well for the people of Edo State; it is the only means to curb the spread of the deceased.

“I have taken my second dose and urge every Edo citizen to come out and participate in the ongoing exercise.”

On the recent arrest of some health workers who were alleged to have indulged in collecting N5,000 from those who refused to be vaccinated, Hon. Ogbomo said, “Those health workers who engaged in such activities, including their collaborators should be made to face the law.

“Who said the COVID-19 vaccine has side effects?, He queried, adding that the Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed that the vaccine is good for human consumption; we should not play politics with the virus as many people who refused to be vaccinated and contacted the deadly virus died in the process.”
