Edo Central Senatorial District Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has condemned in strong terms the purported nomination of one Timothy Osadolor from Uhunomwode local government area for the position of National Deputy Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, ahead of the National Convention of the party slated for October 30 and 31, 2022.

Edo State PDP chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, was said to have conceded the slot to Governor Obaseki in his capacity as the Leader of the party to nominate a candidate for the available position.

The Governor, for reasons best known to him was said to have unilaterally nominated and forward one Mr. Timothy Osadolor name from Uhunomwode local government of the state to the National Screening Committee of the party for clearance.

Reacting to governor’s nomination, Edo PDP Concerned Group, (EPCG), Edo Central chapter, in a press statement made available to journalists in Benin City, and signed by the chairman, Moses Odianose and Secretary, Udo Ehizogie Samuel said, Governor Obaseki should allow equity to reign by nominating a member from Edo Central Senatorial District.

According to him, “Edo Central Senatorial District since inception of democracy in 1999 has always voted Peoples Democratic Party, unlike the other two Senatorial District.

“Edo South Senatorial District has produced the present Governor of the state, while the North Senatorial District have already produced two Board of trustees members as against none from Edo Central Senatorial District.”

Odianose querried, “why will the governor again be picking a person from Edo South Senatorial District, what has Edo Central Senatorial District done to be treated like this”.

He advised that sharing positions equally by the three Senatorial Districts in the state will put the party in a good position in the state.

“Edo PDP Concerned Group, (EPCG), Edo Central Senatorial District, want Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, who conceded the slot to Governor Obaseki in his capacity as the Leader of the party to nominates a candidate for the available position, to explain why he decided to sell his birth right.

”Governor Godwin Obaseki should reversed the nomination of Timothy Osadolor, and pick someone from Edo Central in order to balance the equation.

“Edo Central Senatorial District voted massively for the PDP in the last election, so should be treated equally as other two Senatorial Districts, “he concluded.

Meanwhile, Some political leaders who spoke under anonymity said, the governor have continuously nominated those who defected with him from APC to PDP now refered to as New PDP into various positions.

“Edo Central Senatorial District Deserves the best, act now and rectify the nomination to Save the party from destruction,” He opined.
