The Okaighele of Obagie Nevbuosa in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Festus Ekanaye Edegbe has appreciated the Odionwere, elders and the entire people of the village for the confidence reposed in him and for reaffirming him as the Okaighele of the village and advised members to be careful on who they henceforth transact business with.

Mr. Festus Edegbe made the appreciation recently when the Odionwere of the village Pa. Omozuhionmwen Aiguobatile Okungbowa and the elders reaffirmed him as the Okaighele in an enlarged meeting held at the village Oguedion.

The Okaighele said the Odionwere, Pa. Okungbowa and elders of the village made the reaffirmation that he (Edegbe) remains the Okaighele after the youths who fought in the village showed remorse and also meeting the traditional conditions given to them to appease the ancestors of the village.

Continuing, he pointed out that he being the Okaighele was mandated that the erring youths complied to the instructions of the elders, which he did and the Odionwere Pa. Okungbowa and the other elders used the items brought by the remorseful youths to appease the gods and ancestor at the village Oguedion on the 13th June, 2022 and also prayed for them not to engage in such act again.

He pointed out that it was at the village Oguedion where the Odionwere and elders appease the ancestors that they also prayed for him for the good work, unity and progress of the village and also reaffirmed him as the Okaighele.

Mr. Edegbe subsequently said those causing problem and trying to divide the village that he attacked them is one Mr. Monday Omozuhionmwen is the son of the Odionwere. He denied attacking him nor hired thugs to the village, adding that the video and reports as recorded by the press are there for all to see.

While pledging his continuous loyalty to the great Oba of Benin kingdom, Oba Ewuare II, Mr. Ekanaye Edegbe said there is no iota of truth on what they said, adding that he will never and have never involve in land grabbing and the outlawed Community Development Association as alleged by the said Mr. Monday Omozuhionwen and others trying to cause dissaffection and divide the village so that they can carryout their evil intention of land grabbing and sales of the village land.

He use the occasion to appeal to the Oba to intervene by calling the Odionwere, elders and the people to the Palace for the issue to be solved once and for all so that peace will not ellude the village.

The Okaighele also use the opportunity to appeal to members of public to disregard the information being circulated, as it is just a ploy by the said persons to tarnish his good name, and also advised members of the public not to have any land business or transaction of any kind concerning the village with the said persons but rather the Odionwere and elders in council of the village.

He then urged those trying to cause problem in the village to join hands with the Odionwere, elders and the progressive people for peace and progress of the village and for the benefit of all.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach the said Mr. Monday Omozuhionwen for reaction was not successful as at the time of filling this report.
