Edo Judiciary Is Fully Digitized In Line With Global Best Practices – Edo Chief Judge

Edo State Chief Judge, Justice Joe Acha says his vision for the state judiciary is to have a fully digitized one in line with global best practices massive infrastructural development and with staff welfare.
He made the remark at a special court session marking the commencement of the New Legal Year at the Edo State High Court Complex in Benin City.
Training and retraining of staff across all cadres in the judiciary, Justice Acha said had increased productivity. With the help of rule of law and anti-corruption ROLAC programme one of its partners, Edo was now one of Nigeria’s digital judiciaries by institutionalizing a digital case management system.
On infrastructural development, the CJ noted that some abandoned vehicles had been refurbished, the judge’s quarters, second wing of Magistrate’s Quarters. New Court Halls were commissioned in Benin City, Urhonigbe, Okada, Igbanke, Idogbo, Abudu and a staff quarter at Ologbo, amongst others.
The judiciary, he said generated Three Hundred and Sixteen Million, Twenty Eight Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty Four Naira, Twenty Eight kobo as revenue collections after its operations were digitized with manual receipts discontinued with.
The case flow for the Edo multi-door court house for case referred shows 16 were resolved, 53 unresolved 80 pending. For walk in cases 36 were resolved 29 unresolved with 110 pending.
On staff disposition, the Edo judiciary has 1751 staffers which comprises 27 High Court Judges, 47 Magistrates, 28 Area Customary Court Presidents, 40 Area Court members, 7 Presidents and 43 members of District Courts.
Also justice Acha appreciated the support and loyalty by staff and the lower bench during the period under review.
Present at the special court session were the speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Edo Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edo Commissioner of Justice, Bench of Senior Advocates, the Edo NBA, all judicial officer including the last three retired Chief Judges of Edo State.
The day’s activities had begun with a thanksgiving mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church following which the CJ inspected a guard of honour at the foyer of the new High court building just before the special court session commenced.
