The Edo State Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Engr. Ethan Uzamere have called on Nigeria, particularly Edo people to avoid panic buying of petroleum products, says the scarcity is as a result of flooding affecting some states of Nigeria.

Uzamere said Edo State government is aware of the recent scarcity and hike in the price of petroleum products in the state.

According the Commissioner Uzamere, this situation is not peculiar to Edo State as recent report of flooding in parts of the country has made it difficult for petroleum marketers to transport their products to some areas of the country.

He said Edo State government is in touch with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Authority, NMDPA, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that petroleum products are available and accessible in our fuel stations at affordable prices.

He advised members of the public to stay calm and avoid panic buying as the Ministry is monitoring the distribution process.
