Land Grabbing: Call EDOGIS MD To Order, Edo NUJ Urges Obaseki
By Simeon OSAJIE
The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has raised alarm over activities of the Managing Director of Edo State Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS), Mrs. Osaro Aihie to frustrate the state government efforts to address land grabbing in the state.
Ahie, who took over the headship of the agency about three months ago had on Tuesday November 15, 2022 called the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe to inform him that Edo State “Governor is interested in the (NUJ) land in the GRA, Benin City.”
Prior to this development, she was seen at the NUJ Press Centre, accompanied by some foreign nationals and armed Policemen inspecting the part of the land at the back side of the secretariat.
The leadership of the union has since realized that her actions were not with the full backing of the state government.
The union leadership therefore call on the state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki to call Mrs. Aihie to order so as not to derail the state government war against land grabbing in the state.
