Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi have commenced training of 40 staff on entrepreneurship business opportunity.

The Rector of the Institution, Dr. Salisu Umar stated this at the opening ceremony of Training of Trainers/Facilitators/Coaches (ToTFC) workshop held at the polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State.

According to him, the training is organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CEDAP) in conjunction with GIZ, GOPA and SEDIN.

He said that the training workshop became imperative to create business development opportunities through entrepreneurship training and coaching measures.

“The capacity building workshop, will train the first instance of a total of 40 staff of the Polytechnic who will in turn train other staff and students.

“The intensive training workshop which will last for 11 days will enables the participants to learn on how to create business development opportunities through entrepreneurship training and coaching measures”.

According to hIm, the training workshop is also inline with the institution’s vision to inculcate ICT as a driving principles for educational service delivery.

In his words, “The training workshop will also improve the staffs knowledge of ODFe-L. and place online learning as the new normal for today’s upwardly mobile populace”.

The Rector however urged all the participants to take the training with the seriousness it requires as they poised to become resource persons in future.

He further disclosed that it had commenced the installation of fibre optic cables around the campuses in preparation for the provision of high speed broadband internet services within the campuses.

“Today’s daily routine of an institution of higher education and learning is increasingly propelled by the use of technology, hence the polytechnic would not be left out in this regard.

“In practically everything aspect of our operation, teaching, research and administration, we rely heavily on the fast transmission of data to academic staff and students.

“In order to key into the competition and make in-roads as some of the best researchers, staff and students, provision of internet services is therefore a crucial part of the infrastructure of an institution of higher learning across the world.

“This is because, an unreliable internet connection remains a huge setback to any higher institution in the present world.

“It is as a result of this that we are carryout the installation of the fibre optic cables with our partner Tenace around our campuses to be part of the global world,” he said.
