A governorship hopeful in the 2024 Edo gubernatorial election, Dr. Martins Azekhumen Okoukoni has congratulated the newly elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and Barr. Marian Edekor respectively and other elected members over the successful inauguration of the 8th Assembly.

In a press statement personally signed by Dr. Martins Azekhumen Okoukoni made available newsmen prayed to God Almighty to grant the newly elected speaker, his deputy and other members of the House the wisdom and good health to carry out their onerous task of steering the affairs of the 8th Assembly.

“l prayed God Almighty to grant Hon. Speaker the wisdom and good health to carry out the onerous task of steering the affairs of Edo State House of Assembly towards a peaceful and progressive future to the benefit of our people.

“To my sister, Barr. Marian Edekor the newly elected Deputy Speaker, I congratulate you for your achievement, and I urged you to forge a good working relationship with the newly elected Speaker Blessing Agbebaku so as to enable the 8th Assembly play its vital role of a partner to the executive arm of government in bringing the require dividends of democracy to the great people of Edo State.


“I  also prayed to God Almighty to grant you the wisdom and good health to enable you discharge your duty creditably.”

The governorship hopeful, while congratulating other elected members of the 8th Assembly to be cautious with their mandates regardless of their background and put aside political interests, assuring them of realizing an exit that will be more glorious when they split with the mindset of serving the people.

According to Okoukoni, “I believe that achieving the primary of proper representatives and the provision of democratic dividends should form a larger part of your policy obligations to the people who elected you into the seat of power.

“I am eagerly looking forward to working amicably with the legislative arm of government upon my emergence as the Executive Governor of Edo State after 2024 gubernatorial election in the interest of the great people of Edo State.

“I want to specially commend Governor Godwin Obaseki, for the success of the inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly.”
