A frontline gubernatorial aspirant in the forthcoming Edo 2024 election, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye has condemned the recent cult killing in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West local government area of the state.

While reacting on the recent killing in Auchi, Hon. Okiye, a former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly urged Edo State government to put in enough stringent measure in place to eradicate cultism particularly from our campuses, because these are children out of useful exuberant they are taken precious lives and it is very unfortunate.

“It is condemnable, but quite unfortunate that government has not been able to put enough stringent measure in place to eradicate cultism particularly from our campuses, because these are children out of useful exuberant they are taken precious lives and it is very unfortunate.

“I urged the government to continue to collaborate with the security agencies in a very sincerity and committed manner, because that sincerity and commitment is what is needed to fight crime, and must be able to demonstrate that we hate crime. So, government must be able to express it as such.

“Remember that cultism is not just beginning now, it is as old as the new generation, but we believe that cultism can be eradicated, and as governorship aspirant, I believe that it can be done.

Going further, Hon. Okiye added: “there is no need to overemphasize the issue of security because if there is no security you cannot talk about development, people cannot sleep with their two eye close. So, if you are not sure you are save, why would you invest in Edo State, why would you want to leave in Edo State in the first instance.

“So, ours is to generate a better living from what is in Edo State, within Edo State and in Edo State. So, it is resting quelling in Edo State and we must explore every possible opportunity that is within Edo State to make Edo people benefit and have a better living.”
