Edo Guber Race: Olumide Akpata Emerges Edo LP Gov’Ship Candidate

The immediate past President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the September 22, 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
Akpata was declared the winner by Chairman, Edo State Labour Party Election Committee, having scored 316 votes to defeat Barr. Kenneth Imansuagbon ‘Riceman’ who scored 7 votes and Prof. Sunday Eromosele, Founder of Mudiame University, Irrua who scored 7 votes. Former House of Representatives member who represented Esan North-East/Esan South-East federal constituency in the 9th National Assembly, Hon. (Barr) Sergius Oseasochie Ogun scored 4.
Akpata, who was a senior partner and the Head of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group at Templars Law Firm in Nigeria until his resignation on 31 August 2023, won the primary election held at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Airport Road, Benin City, the state capital, today Friday 23rd February, 2024.
There was jubilation at the venue immediately Akpata was declared as the winner of the primary.
Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata, born October 7, 1972 is a Nigerian legal practitioner and politician. He was a senior partner and the Head of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group at Templars law firm in Nigeria until his resignation on 31 August 2023 to enable him pursue partisan politics.
