Hon. Tenebe made the submission in Benin City during an interaction with journalists after the declaration of Barr. Ighodalo as the party flag bearer at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

He congratulated Barr.  Ighodalo on his emergence as the PDP governorshp candidate for getting his certificate of return.

Chief Tenebe, also one of the Edo North PDP leaders who vigorously campaigned for the zoning of the party’s governorship ticket to the Edo Central district, in the spirit of equity and justice, expressed joy that Edo State is finally going to enjoy continuity and rapid development once a capable hand is put in charge of affairs.

“It is the consensus among the party leaders that the emergence of Ighodalo would significantly help unite the various contending forces within the party as well as pave the way for the party’s victory given the towering credentials possessed by its candidate and also his growing acceptability,” he said.

The Etsako-born PDP bigwig believes Ighodalo’s emergence holds the key to the expected superlative performance of the party in the September gubernatorial poll, noting further that the other contenders in the race for the coveted seat fall short of expectations.

He also described Ighodalo as a “perfect fit” for the job, adding Edo State cannot afford to make the terrible mistake of leaving the state in the hands of  newcomers  given the giant strides the state has recorded under Governor Godwin Obaseki whose tenure is about to end.

Most political pundits share Chief Tenebe’s sentiments and singled out Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the candidate to beat in the September 21st governorship poll.

Barr. (Dr) Asue Ighodalo came from the private sector having sat on the boards of several money spinning conglomerates, including Sterling Bank and the Nigerian Brewery.

Since 2016, Ighodalo has been an active player in formulating an economic blueprint for Edo State, thus, garnering cognate private and public sector experiences in the process

First conscripted into the Economic Management Team by former Edo State governor, Comrade  Oshiomole, now a senator and retained by Gov. Obaseki because of his wealth of expertise,  Ighodalo was evidently marked for greatness

Chief Tenebe further stated that the upliftment of Edo State is paramount and non-negotiable at this period of time, adding he is hopeful that Ighodalo will utilize the experiences garnered in both the private and public sector engagements to drive the process of sustaining the momentum created by the departing Gov Obaseki’s administration.

Emphasizing that Gov Obaseki is committed to leaving Edo State in good hands, Chief Tenebe said Ighodalo is the “parting gift” and the “beloved son” who will take Edo State to the promised land.

Interestingly, Chief Tenebe is one of the forward looking Edo PDP leaders who believes in a prosperous future for the ruling party.

Excited at the coming of Ighodalo, Chief Tenebe is, once again, typical of his boisterous self, on the move to galvanize solid support for the candidature of Ighodalo in the September 22nd guber poll.
