Philip Shaibu Out, Marvelous Omobayo In As Edo Deputy Governor

Following the impeachment of Comrade Philip Shaibu as deputy governor of Edo State earlier today, 8th April, 2024, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly. Rt. Hon. As at the time of filing in this report, The9JaTREND gathered that the new deputy governor Omobayo Marvellous Godwins is expectged to be sworn in at the Festival Hall of the Edo Government House, Benin City.

Recall at the  Assembly sitting earlier today at 9.41am voted for the impeachment of the deputy governor by a vote of 18 against one who voted against, among the 20 members present with the speaker expected to give the deciding vote in case of a tie.

Shaibu, according to Justice Stephen Omonuwa (Rtd)-led a seven-man panel, to investigate the allegation of gross misconduct levelled against the deputy governor, submitted that the deputy governor was guilty of disclosure of official secret.

Born July 19, 1986, the new Edo State Deputy Governor, Omobayo Marvellous Godwins hails from Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo Sate is a seasoned Engineer with a proven track record of progressive professional experience in the oil and gas sector.

With a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Msc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN), he is well suited for the role as a professional and an expert in public administration.

He is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

A thorough-bred young professional, he serves as a Senior Maintenance Engineer in Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, cutting his professional teeth in the operations in the South South area, providing top-notch services and growing the business in the region.

He has also been active in politics in his local government, building bridges of trust with the people and mobilising them for common causes, breaking political barriers to the chagrin of his opponents.
